How to Support the COVID-19 Crisis in India

As India battles a deadly second wave, here’s how you can show support on your Linktree and donate to relief efforts

Linktree Donate India

Update: August 13, 2021 – Thank you for all who donated. This campaign has now ended but we will continue to support India, and other important causes, through our Social Good and non-profit initiatives.

India is fighting the world’s worst battle against COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began. The country’s second wave has devastated the entire country: since mid-March, infections have surpassed 400,000 daily cases. The past few days have been the deadliest on record as total fatalities near 240,000, which many believe is an undercount.

With limited supplies of hospital beds, oxygen, medical supplies, and healthcare workers, India is at a critical point in their fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Linktree is encouraging our global community to take action and show its support. The situation is heartbreaking, but there are ways to help.

India Support Banners

Linktree is now giving all users the ability to add support banners to their Linktree profiles. This enables visitors to directly donate to relief efforts in India.

Linktree Support India Banner

We’ve partnered with UNICEF Australia to direct these donations, with every penny going towards extraordinary, extensive relief efforts. This banner takes users to a Support India Linktree profile where they can make a donation to UNICEF or other reputable charities. You can also show your support by donating via our Linktree. We’re matching the total funds raised up to $5,000 AUD and covering any fees paid along the way.

UNICEF Australia

All of the donations made through the Linktree support banner will go to UNICEF relief efforts in India. UNICEF, or the United Nations Children’s Fund, is a global agency that provides humanitarian relief, developmental aid, and lifesaving supplies to children around the world. Since the early stages of the pandemic, UNICEF has worked closely with the Government of India, helping to coordinate relief and procure essential supplies like oxygen concentrators, testing kits, and vaccines.

They deliver clean drinking water and basic sanitation supplies to children in schools who may not be able to wash their hands otherwise. Educating children and their families on the importance of hygiene is a fundamental way to control the spread of COVID-19.

UNICEF is urgently appealing for funds to supply 50 Oxygen Generation Plants to treat critically ill patients. Every plant can support a 500-bed hospital for patients to breathe and survive.

We’re also recommending several other organizations with their boots on the ground in India.

Hemkunt Foundation

The Hemkunt Foundation is an NGO based in Gurugram, India that provides humanitarian relief to marginalized communities in the country, especially during disasters. Since the start of the pandemic, Hemkunt has collected donations in order to supply oxygen cylinders and first aid to those fighting the deadly coronavirus battle in India. Recently they set up a temporary oxygen center in Gurgaon to assist patients directly, 24/7. Your donation will go towards funding this center and more direct relief efforts.

Khalsa Aid India

Khalsa Aid is a UK-based humanitarian NGO that relieves victims of natural and man-made disasters around the world. They are often among the first at the scene responding to major catastrophes. The charity is so widely respected that it was recently nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. Right now Khalsa Aid is actively supporting medical organizations, facilities, and NGOs working directly with COVID-19 patients. Your donation will go towards funding medical programs that aid vulnerable, distraught communities across India.

GiveIndia

GiveIndia was created to resolve the economic disparities plaguing underprivileged communities in India. According to the non-profit organization’s founder Venkat Krishnan, “the idea of GiveIndia was born very simply to bridge the gap between two sets of people—people who want to give, who want to try and make a difference along with those who are doing phenomenal work but don’t know how to reach out to the people who want to support them.” Your donation to the non-profit organization will go directly to their India Covid Respond Fund (ICRF). That money enables NGOs and the government to collaborate on setting up medical centers, supplying oxygen, and equipping essential workers with PPE kits and other necessary sanitation supplies to treat COVID-19 patients.

Donate To All Impacted Countries

While India is experiencing the most significant rise of COVID-19 cases, other countries are still facing their own deadly battles against the pandemic as well. We haven’t forgotten about them. UNICEF’s COVID-19 response is tackling coronavirus in more than 150 counties, reaching millions of children and their families affected around the world. From training healthcare workers and delivering COVID-19 to providing critical supplies, such as protective gear, oxygen, and sanitizer, your donation to UNICEF goes a long way.

So many people are experiencing devastating losses and difficulties during the COVID-19 pandemic. If you can help, please do! Whether you add the Support banner, donate to one of these (or other) charities, or mobilize your own relief efforts, a little goes a long way right now. Together, we can flatten the curve.
