Meet Tina, comedian and writer who is about to hit the road and take her act on tour! We sat down with Tina to talk about what’s on the horizon for this year and what she is most excited about sharing with her audience.
Did you ever think when you posted your first video on the internet that you would be on a billboard in Times Square? What was your reaction when you found out?
Yes. Yes – I did. I’ve always known that I just had that je ne sais quoi that would have my name up there in lights. I didn’t know when, but I pinned it up there with all the other life milestones like buying a car, a house… I live in NYC in 2024 so those things, maybe not actually happening, but the billboard thing? I knew.
When I found out, my reaction was “surely they have the wrong Tina…another Tina Friml who is out there doing incredible things.” It took a while to sink in, but it’s incredible.
If you could extend your billboard space to the next up and coming creator that we all should be keeping tabs on, who would it be?
My friend Paige Lauren Billiot is incredible! She is an influencer out in LA who is a great advocate for beauty and birthmarks and [just] really embracing the things that make you so different. Not only accepting what makes you different, but celebrating and highlighting it. She is a whiz at make up and special effects and I cannot believe the looks that she constantly comes up with – she is bound for greatness.
What is a new project or hobby that you are exploring in 2024 that you’re excited about?
I am really excited to start expanding what I show in my life [online]. Right now, I share so much about my stand up comedy and all the ins and outs of my life being disabled but I hardly ever highlight things in my life that make it full – like how I love rock climbing! I really want to showcase that journey more on social media and while it’s a bit different than what I’ve shared, I really want to showcase a wider image of who Tina Friml is as a person!
What is the elevator pitch for why people should check out your tour and see your comedy in person?
If you’re looking to get a wider perspective on where my comedy comes from, my quirky life – it’s never a bad time, and I bring all my favorite comedians out from all over the country to join me…so come on down!
